Business Models for the Digital Economy - AMCIS 2019 Mini-Track


Der Minitrack Business Models for the Digital Economy findet im Rahmen der Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) 2019 bereits zum 20. Mal statt. Die AMCIS 2019 findet vom 15.-17. August 2019 in Cancún, México, statt.

Inhaltlich thematisiert der Minitrack vor allem neue und innovative Formen der Wertschöpfung in der Digital Economy:
"This mini-track serves as a forum for the presentation and discussion of new and innovative approaches to business models for coping with the challenges of the digital economy and digital transformation of businesses, and beyond. We consider an economy based on the digitization of information and the respective information and communication infrastructure as the digital economy. These developments are creating and are requiring new types of business models. Value creation processes and structures will be altered radically and may be disruptive, new types of products, as well as services, are emerging. New technologies, such as blockchain or conversational interfaces, are important enablers. Therefore, this mini-track addresses all topics concerned with the analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and control of future business models for the creation of economic value in the digital economy from a communication, organizational, business, economic, and managerial perspective applying a theoretical, conceptual, or practical approach."

Business Models for the Digital Economy - AMCIS 2018 Mini-Track

Inzwischen zum 19. Mal organisiere ich den Minitrack „Business Models for the Digital Economy“ im Rahmen der Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS).  Die AMCIS 2018 findet statt vom 16.-18. August 2018 in New  Orleans, USA .

Inhaltlich thematisiert der Minitrack vor allem neue und innovative Formen der Wertschöpfung in der Digital Economy:

Proceedings Online - AMCIS Minitrack 'Business Models for the Digital Economy'

Vom 12. bis 15. August 2010 fand in Lima, Peru, die 16. Americas Conference on Information Systerms AMCIS statt.
Im Rahmen der AMCIS 2010 habe ich mit meinem US Kollegen Ian MacInnes von der Syracuse University bereits zum elften Mal den Minitrack "Business Models for the Digital Economy" organisiert. Die an der Konferenz vorgestellten Papers des Minitracks sind ab sofort Online abrufbar. Für den Zugang zur AIS Electronic Library (AISeL) und damit zu den Volltexten wird allerdings eine AIS Mitgliedschaft benötigt. Gerne stelle ich bei Bedarf den Volltext zur Verfügung, Anfragen bitte per mail oder Twitter DM.

Die gesamthaften AMCIS 2010 Proceedings sind ebenfalls über die AISeL abrufbar.

Auch für die AMCIS 2011 planen wir die Fortsetzung unseres Minitracks.

AMCIS Minitrack 'Business Models for the Digital Economy' - Zusammenfassung

Im Rahmen des AMCIS 2009 Minitrack ‚Business Model for the Digital Economy‘ wurden insgesamt neun Papers vorgestellt.

Die Papers sind in der
AIS Electronic Library publiziert.
Insgesamt waren die Präsentationen praxisnah, d.h. sie behandelten konkrete Problemstellungen aus der realen Welt des E-Business. Häufig führten die Autoren konkrete praktische Erfahrungen als Motivation für ihre Arbeiten an. Allerdings gelingt es den Autoren unterschiedlich gut, ihre mehr oder weniger abstrakten und theoretischen Ergebnisse auch praxisnah zu präsentieren, d.h. den konkreten Nutzen anschaulich aufzuzeigen.


Kelly Lyons thematisierte die unterschiedlichen Business Models von Online Services unter Verwendung der Typologie von Rappa.


Dirk Riehle analysierte in seinem Vortrag das Thema der Commercial Open Source – Business Models – in Abgrenzung zu Community Open Source Business Models. Der Fokus lag dabei auf Erlösmodellen, Intellectual Property Rights sowie der Open Source Community und deren unterschiedlichen Funktionen im Rahmen der Commercial Open Source Business Models.


Cristina Costa thematisierte das Design von Business Models und kombinierte dabei die Business Model- mit der der Actor Network Theorie (ANT). Focus war die Unterstützung der Verhandlungsmechanismen zur Konfiguration von Value Networks. Dabei zeigte sie das konkrete Beispiel der (fiktiven) Firma FoodAtYourDisposal auf.


Li Chen beschäftigte sich mit der Entwicklung des Wettbewerbs im Bereich von eBooks in Abhängigkeit der Endgeräte und fokussiert in seiner quantitativen Analyse insbesondere auf Amazons Kindle bzw. das iPhone als eBook Endgeräte unter Verwendung der Spieltheorie.


Volker Hoyer präsentierte drei generische Geschäftsmodelle für Enterprise Mashup Plattformen. Geleitet durch den Design Science Ansatz basiert die Arbeit auf einer entsprechend konzeptionellen Grundlage, analysiert aber auch multiple Fallstudien und stellt so einen konkreten Bezug zu bestehenden Plattformen her.

Das Paper bekam den AMCIS 2009 best paper award!

Ruth King beschäftigte sich mit den Zusammenhänger verschiedener Einflussgrössen auf die Akquise und das Halten von Kunden basierend auf dem Stand der Forschung. Fokus war vor allem die Wirkung der Website Indentification auf die Shopping Intention der Konsumenten. Die konzeptionelle Basis sind hier vor allem Theorien zur Social Identity und Organizational Identification.


Allyn Stott präsentierte die Herausforderungen von DRM Lösungen aus der Sicht fünf verschiedener Stakeholderperspektiven und stellt fest, dass DRM heute im Prinzip das Gegenteil der eigentlichen Zielsetzungen bewirkt und letztendlich das illegale Filesharing forciert. Abschliessend macht er sich Gedanken zu möglichen ´fairen´ Lösungen für die Zukunft, welche Ansprüche und Rechte aller relevanten Stakeholder berücksichtigt ohne jedoch konkrete Vorschläge zu machen.


Matt Wimble diskutiert den Zusammenhang von Suchkosten und dem Long Tail und fragt nach den Auswirkungen auf das Online Shopping Verhalten durch die Reduktion von Suchkosten. Die quantitative Analyse kommt u.a. zum Schluss, dass Suchkosten eher ein Umweltfaktor als einen kausalen Faktor darstellen.


Rahul Basole analysiert aus der Perspektive der Netzwerkanalyse das konvergierende Mobile Ecosystem und beschäftigt sich mit den Auswirkungen auf Business Models. Er fokussiert dabei vor allem auf die Visualisierung der komplexen Netzwerkbeziehungen.
